First fair of halal industry “Sahaf” will be held in Sarajevo from 15-17 May. It will gather representatives from this industry from the countries in Southeast Europe and throughout the world.
Member of the supervisory board of “Sahaf” Amel Kovačević said that the goal of the fair is to promote halal products and services to consumers in the region, and to create a business opportunity to the halal industry in traditional halal markets around the world.
At this year’s fair, manufacturers of halal food products, additives, pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, and halal service providers in finance, banking and insurance, tourism and hospitality will be present.
Kovačević said that Sarajevo, as the capital city of BIH, deserves to be host of such a manifestation, because historically it is based on an Islamic culture and civilization.
Organizers of the fair “Sahaf” think that this is an opportunity to improve the ties between local and foreign buyers and distributers.
“The global market for halal products and services is estimated at 2.770 billion US dollars, and with an exponential growth rate at 20 percent at a yearly level’’, said Kovačević and added that BiH is the single largest market of halal food in Southeast Europe.
The population of consumers that prefer halal certified foods and services in BiH are estimated at around 2 million.
Halal is a term that is used for products and services that are considered to be permitted to use under Islamic law.
