Kazan, May 13, 2020

“Zakat” charity fund of Muslim Religious Administration of Tatarstan continues to distribute lunch boxes for breaking fasts during Ramadan to those in need. The initiative is held within the framework of the VIII-th Republican Iftar campaign. Some 18’000 iftar meals boxes have already been sent to 30 Muslim communities of the republic, 40 mosques in Kazan and Islamic religious institutions of the region as well.

The lunch boxes include: water, chuck-chuck (national sweet), dates, noodles, hot meals (potatoes with cabbage and chicken), and cakes. The organizers took all measures during the campaign to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.

It must be noted that the VIII-th Republican iftar is dedicated to the 100-th anniversary of the Tatarstan Republic, and will cover up to 30,000 people throughout the region, doubling the number of participants compared to last year's Iftar, that gathered some 15,000 people. Thus, this year Muslim clergy in Tatarstan is to fix a new record number of Iftar participants in the history of all Republican iftar events.
