The the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District authorities are preparing for a visit of the supreme mufti of Syria, Ahmad Badr al-Din Hassun, who will hold a number of meetings concerned with extremism and terrorism with the followers of Islam in the region.

The initiative of inviting the Syrian mufti belongs to the Governor of the district Natalya Komarova and enforcement authorities. “He can tell on the example of his state about the danger of forbidden radical religious movements, and explain the local imams how to identify such groups in their mosques and resist them afterwards,” the organizer of the meeting told.   

The upcoming visit of the Syrian delegation to the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District was also confirmed by the regional Department of Public and External Relations. “Sheikh Ahmad Badr al-Din Hassun and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic Riad Haddad are invited to participate in the All-Russian Forum of National Unity which is to be held in October in Khanty-Mansiysk. The Supreme mufti has confirmed his visit. The program of his visit includes meetings with youth and representatives of national diasporas and elders”, the Department said in a statement.
