Moscow Muslims celebrated the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad

Moscow, November 12, 2019

The Cathedral Mosque of the Russian capital gathered Muslims of all the nationalities to commemorate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The program of the Mawlid festival included lectures on the history of Islam, as well as the family values, mufti of Moscow Ildar Alyautdinov told RIA Novosti.

“We gathered about two thousand guests. They are parishioners of our mosque and guests of the city, including the children’s group performing nasheeds (religious chants) that came from Dagestan” Alyautdinov said.

According to the Mufti, the Muslims were especially interested in the lecture about family and marriage from Islamic point of view.

“We considered the most pressing issues at the gathering: how to choose a life partner, how to conclude a Muslim marriage and how to build harmonious relations. We discussed complicated questions as well, for example, how to survive a possible crisis between husband and wife and what to do in such cases according to Islamic laws.” - said the mufti of Moscow.

The organizers of Mawlid al-Nabi festival also announced the results of the video contest and essays on the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

“The contestants received memorable gifts, as well as those who correctly answered the quiz questions dedicated to the life of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ," Alyautdinov said.
