Kemerovo holds interfaith volleyball tournament

The first interfaith mini-volleyball tournament was held at the Shakhtar stadium in Kemerovo on Sunday, July 26. It was attended by representatives of four different religious communities: Orthodox, Catholics, Protestants and Muslims, the press office of the Administration of the Government of Kuzbass reports.

The participants were divided into six teams. The competition was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic war. Six teams were named after famous heroes of the region - Vera Voloshina, Yuri Dvuzhilny, Alexander Sarygin, Illarion Vasilyev, Vladimir Myzo and Gennady Krasilnikov. Muslims and Christians played in mixed teams.

The organizers of the competition believe that it will help to strengthen interfaith and interethnic peace in the region.


The winners were awarded with certificates of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Culture of Kuzbass.

After the award ceremony the Kemerovo Muslim community invited all the participants of the volleyball tournament to taste pilaf.
