The Miracles of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

By IslamReligion.com / 22 Apr 2013

There are many miracles which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon) performed related in the Sunnah, or conglomeration of the sayings, deeds, approvals, and descriptions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon).

The difference between miracles, karamahs and magic.

By Aisha Stacey / 4 Feb 2013

Islam defines a miracle as an extraordinary act or event that is contrary to the laws of nature and can only come about through the direct intervention of Allah Almighty Himself.  The Arabic word for miracle is mu’jizah.  It stems from the word ajz, meaning something that incapacitates, cannot be resisted, unique.  According to Islam, miracles are performed by the permission of Allah, by the prophets of Allah.  Miracles are not magic, which is by definition a trick or illusion, nor is a miracle an event brought about by a learned righteous people who are not prophets of Allah.  These events are called karamahs.  Thus we find three distinct categories, miracles, karamahs and magic.

Prophet Muhammad's Miracles

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)possesses many manifest miracles and signs demonstrating [his veracity], reaching thousands and they are well known.

From amongst them was the Qur'an, the manifest and clear miracle and brilliant proof, falsehood cannot approach it from before it or behind it. It is a revelation from One Who is All-Wise and Praiseworthy. It incapacitated the most eloquent of people in the most eloquent of times to produce a single chapter that would be comparable to it, even if the whole of creation were to gather for that purpose. Allah, the Exalted says,

"Say: If the whole of mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like of it, even if they assisted each other."[Al-Israa' (17): 88]

THE MIRACLES OF THE SAINTS

The Realities Of Sufism

The Miracles Of The Saints

by Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir 'Isa

In this day and age of ours, many people enquire about miracles, asking many questions: "Are miracles established in the Sacred Law?" "Is there any proof for them in the Book and the Sunna?" "What is the wisdom behind having miracles manifest at the hands of the saints and pious?" It is an absolute must that we tackle this topic head on so as to make clear the truth and give aid to the Sacred Law of Allah (swt), since the forces of atheism and materialism, and the factions of doubt and misguidance, have become abundant, affecting the intellects of many of our people and misguiding numerous intelligent people among us, leading them to take the position of denial and rejection, doubt and indecisiveness, or perplexity and wonder with regards to the miracles. All of this is a result of their weak faith in Allah and His omnipotence, and weak belief in His saints and beloved.
