Islam in Russia has rich history, which can be traced back to the reign of Umar the second righteous Caliph in the 7th century Hijri. Since then Russia has produced many scholars and learned men who have left indelible impact on the preservation and proliferation of Islam on its territory. From their numerous books, sermons, and continuing guidance for murids, we know how such scholars as Sheikh Hasan Afandi and others have defended the religion and the tariqah institution, cleansing it from false teachings, explained the differences between the pseudo and the true murshids, contributing to the renewal and thriving of the tariqah.

 

The last path of the great Imam Shamil

143 years has passed since the greatest scholar of our time, the defender and support of religion, the freedom fighter of the Caucasian mountaineers, the Sheikh of the Naqshbandi tariqat, the great Imam of Chechnya and Dagestan Sheikh Shamil left this perishable world.
 
In Arabic, his name sounds like Shamwil, and the Imam himself loved to be called like that. In old manuscripts, the name of the Imam is also written as Shamwil.
 
 

Remembering Quramuhammad Haji Ramazanov

On July 26, 2007, the Muslim ummah lost an outstanding personality, prominent scholar and theologian Quramuhammad Haji Ramazanov. He fell a martyr, returning from the mosque, reciting the Quran on his lips. Together with him his younger brother Abdullah Hajji, who always accompanied him, also returned to His Lord.

«Mecca in silver: the symbolism of the Hajj in silver stamps of the Moscow mint» exhibition opened in Makhachkala. 
 
In 2013 in Russia with the use of the high-end technology the Moscow Mint of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation issued a collection of 40 replica stamps made of 999 fine silver and dedicated it to the Holy City of Mecca.
