Ease of doing business: UAE jumps 10 places to be 11th

The UAE has expedited its march towards making the economy more attractive for foreign investment and easier to do business as the latest World Bank report ranked the nation among the world's top 20 countries for the ease of doing business.
 
According to the Ease of Doing Business 2019 report released on Wednesday by the World Bank, the UAE ranked 11th globally, jumping 10 places from last year's ranking of 21. The UAE also maintained its highest ranking in the Middle East and North Africa region, with reforms captured in four areas.

More employees across all UAE economic sectors received salary increases in 2018 compared to the previous year, with 72% of companies across the country awarding their workers raises. 
 
The number of companies paying out bonuses also increased to 65% across all organisations surveyed compared to just 50% in 2017, said new data from the Korn Ferry 2018 Salary and Benefits Study.
 
 

European tourist accepts Islam in UAE, inspired by police

Inspired and touched by Abu Dhabi tourism police's values of tolerance and civilised approach, a Dutch female tourist has converted to Islam.
 
The Tourism Section in Investigation Directorate, after liaising with the competent entities, hosted Christina Dafano, who deeply expressed her happiness to embrace Islam, according to a statement issued by Abu Dhabi Police on Saturday.
 
After reciting the Shahada, Dafano changed her name Noura.

Two-thirds believe UAE police treat all equally

Residents believe police will treat them with respect regardless of their nationality and social standing.

About 8 in 10 (79 per cent) residents surveyed in a poll believe the police in their emirate would treat them fairly if they had dealings with them, while 66 per cent believed police treated all people equally.
