Islam in Malaysia
Malaysia is a multiracial country with a population that currently stands at 33 million, of which approximately 63 percent are Muslims. Islam is constitutionally the country’s official religion, with the freedom to practice other religions. The Shariah Law in Malaysia is only applicable to Muslims and is used to resolve conflicts relating to creed and family matters.

Malaysia is in a strong position to become the global halal hub in 2020 with almost 4,500 companies having the halal certification in the country as of March this year. Sabah’s Assistant Industrial Development Minister Datuk Bolkiah Ismail said the figure was a 35.5 per cent increase over the 3,319 companies during the same period last year.

Muslim female flight attendants working with Malaysia Airlines (MAS) should be given the option to wear the hijab, suggested Umno Youth.
“Those who wish to cover their aurat should be allowed to do so,” said the movement’s head Khairy Jamaluddin while chairing an Umno Youth exco meeting yesterday.

Composed of thousands islands and a multicultural society, Malaysia is a wonderful hotspot for travelers who are seeking history, natural beauty and a mixture of different cultures.
By now, Malaysians are generally aware that there have been disputes between the Muslims and the Christians from among them pertaining to the use of the key term "Allah" by the latter.
Unfortunately however, it seems that of the whole controversy most Malaysians can be sure only of that much.
The rest, judging from the many viewpoints and contentions raised thus far, seems convoluted and confused to them.

Malaysia is the world's friendliest destination for Muslim travelers, according to a survey released Tuesday, but Japan has shown most improvement as it ramps up efforts to cash in on a growing market.
Malaysia was followed by the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in this year's rankings for "halal" friendly holiday destinations released by Singapore-based Muslim travel specialist Crescentrating.
