Oil & gas among top performers in business: study

Oil & gas, metals & mining, and construction sectors emerged among the top 10 performers with over 10 per cent growth in both revenue and profitability between 2016 and 2017, said a report.
 
Pharma, banking, and medical devices turned out to be the weakest performers with less than 10 per cent growth across both measures, added the latest business sector performance analysis 2017, researched by GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
 
 

OPEC August oil output tops 2018 high: Poll

OPEC oil output has risen this month to a 2018 high as Libyan production recovered and Iraq's southern exports hit a record, a Reuters survey found, although a cut in Iranian shipments due to US sanctions limited the increase.

Price pressures on the global oil market have suddenly tightened, and the deadly hostage drama at a gas field in Algeria puts a "dark cloud" over the country's entire energy sector, the International Energy Agency warned yesterday.

The IEA said that a dominant factor in the global energy market now "has a lot to do with political risk writ large, and not just in Syria, Iran, Iraq, Libya or Venezuela", and included regulatory risks.

 

Iraq Dec oil exports slip to 2.34 mbpd, official says

Iraq’s oil exports fell to 2.34 million barrels per day (bpd) in December from 2.62 million bpd in November due to a slowdown in Kurdistan exports, rough weather and technical problems with a single point mooring terminal, an official said on Monday.

Iraq shipped 2.02 million bpd from the southern oil hub of Basra, down from 2.194 million bpd in November, said Abdul-Ilah Qasim, an energy adviser to the Iraqi government.
