Complex dedicated to Prophet Muhammad to be built in Mecca

Saudi Arabia has designated a one million square meter vicinity in the Holy City of Mecca to build a complex dedicated to the Prophet Muhammad and his teachings.

Called the "Peace be upon the Prophet" project, the center will include an exhibition, university, electronic gate center, library, translation center, hotels and other facilities, the Saudi Gazette reported on Tuesday.

Makkah Exhibition showcases artifacts of holy mosques

The Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques has set up an exhibition to document the history and artifacts of the Haram Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.

The manager of the Two Holy Mosques Exhibition, Mohammad Al-Jabri said that the exhibition will include artifacts, architectural and inscriptions from the Umayyad era until the present era.


Makkah Gate to be built in 20 years

The structural plan for the Makkah Gate project that was recently approved by Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal will be implemented in four stages over 20 years, said Osama Al-Bar, Makkah mayor and chairman of the board of directors at the Makkah Gate Company.

He said that 70 percent of the project is located inside the borders of the Grand Mosque.

“The strategy of the project will allocate a series of places to be developed independently in phases,” he added.

Museum for Makkah history planned

The Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities is currently developing a museum for Makkah history at Maabida Palace, said Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of SCTA yesterday. “We are also building a number of new regional museums,” he added.

Prince Sultan made this comment after meeting Abdul Maqsood Khoja at his house in Jeddah. He honored Khoja for donating nine rare manuscripts to SCTA and commended his desire to preserve national heritage.
