What is Islam

The Boy's Wise Words.

Malik bin Dinar (may Allah be pleased with him) reports:
“I once passed a boy who was playing with clay. Sometimes the boy would smile and sometimes he would cry. I was about to offer Salaam to him, but my Nafs (soul) prohibited me from doing so out of arrogance. (In other words, he thought it was more befitting that the younger greets the elder, rather than vice versa). Eventually, I persuaded my nafs to offer his greetings to the younger”.

Spirit of tolerance in Islam

Intolerance is on the increase in the world today, causing death, genocide, violence, religious persecution as well as confrontations on different levels. Some times it is racial and ethnic, some times it is religious and ideological, other times it is political and social. In every situation it is evil and painful. How can we solve the problem of intolerance? How can we assert our own beliefs and positions without being intolerant to others? How can we bring tolerance into the world today?

Holding Fast To The Qur'an And Sunnah

Narrated Tariq bin Shihab:A Jew said to 'Umar, "O Chief of the Believers, if this verse: 'This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favors upon you, and have chosen for you, Islam as your religion.' (5.3) had been revealed upon us, we would have taken that day as an 'Id (festival) day." 'Umar said, "I know definitely on what day this Verse was revealed; it was revealed on the day of 'Arafat, on a Friday."

Umar ibn al-Khattab, a companion of the prophet, said:

One day we were sitting in the company of Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) when there appeared before us a man dressed in pure white clothes, his hair extraordinarily black. There were no signs of travel on him. None amongst us recognized him. At last he sat with the Apostle (peace be upon him). He knelt before him placed his palms on his thighs and said: "Muhammad, inform me about Islam."

Only for Allah

There was a pious man among the Banu Israel who always remained busy in the worship of Allah. A group of people came to him and told him that a tribe living nearby worshipped a tree. The news upset him, and with an axe on his shoulder he went to cut down that tree.

Three Tough Questions

There was a young man who went overseas to study for quite a long time. When he returned, he asked his parents to find him a religious scholar or any expert who could answer his Three Questions. Finally, his parents were able to find a Muslim scholar.

"Who are you? Can you answer my questions?," asked the young man

"I am one of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala)'s slaves and Insha'Allah (God willing), I will be able to answer your questions," replied the Scholar.

Following elders teaching

Sermon by Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi on the ziyarat to Shaykh Shu`ayb Afandi | Bagini | 2005

Dear brothers in faith, we should all give thanks to Allah. It is amazing how many people are here today! Daghestan has been really blessed with Barakah! Never since our ancestors’ times Daghestan has been so religious and advanced in spiritual knowledge and Tariqa.

Branches of Tariqah

Sermon by Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi in the village of Lower Kazanische, Dagestan

Some people think we do not recognize Abdurahman Sughuri. But who really wants to know the truth, he knows; and who does not, will never do. How can we reject him? Take for example a tree trunk. The trunk has branches. All branches grow on the same tree, and there is no difference between them. Some people collect the fruit on this branch, and the others collect on the different branch. They keep to their branches and do not swap them.

Polygamy boom amongst British Muslims

A GROWING number of young British Muslims are taking second or third wives in an unexpected revival of polygamy, according to religious leaders.

The new wave of polygamy is revealed in a special report by the BBC Asian Network using findings from the Islamic Sharia Council.

The council, which provides legal advice and guidance to Muslims, said it was receiving an unprecedented number of inquiries about polygamous marriages.
